Job Vacancy: Visitor Services and Volunteer Co-ordinator

Are you passionate about history and enjoy working with people? We are seeking a Visitor Services and Volunteer Co-ordinator, to develop and motivate an excellent volunteer team and ensure that all our visitors receive an outstanding visitor experience.

  • Full time 37.5 hours per week
  •  Salary £24,000
  • Tuesday – Saturday (min 3 Saturdays per month)
  • Some bank holidays and occasional evenings
  • Closing Date Friday 9 November, midnight

You will need experience of working in a customer service environment but you don’t need to have worked in a museum before.

You will co-ordinate our volunteers and manage our Front of House operations, including maximising profits from ticket sales, and supporting activities such as group tours and room hires. You will also work with the Director to develop an exciting retail offer in our shop which includes books, gifts and handmade craft. You will need an eye for detail, excellent organisational skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

Our Museum was established with funding from Heritage Lottery Fund and is just over 3 years old. We tell the story of the Huguenots, French Protestant refugees escaping persecution who settled in Britain, making a lasting impact. We also make links with today’s refugees.  We have lots of stories to tell and exciting plans for our future. This post is absolutely crucial in ensuring every visit to the Huguenot Museum is a positive and enjoyable experience, and that our young museum is a success.
