Book Club: La Reine Margot
November 30 @ 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm
Following a successful first meeting in October our next book will be La Reine Margot, by Alexandre Dumas. Published in 1845 it opens with the celebrations for the marriage of the beautiful Catholic princess Margot and the Protestant Henri of Navarre in 1572. At attempt is made on the life of prominent Protestant Admiral Coligny, leading to the St Bartholomew’s Day Massacre and what follows is a story of drama, love and intrigue. The popularity of La Reine Margot and other novels such as The Three Musketeers made Dumas one of the most famous Frenchmen of his day. La Reine Margot is for sale in our shop, along with books about the history of the Huguenots and other historical novels.
