Hannah Robson’s exhibition Bizarre and Curious Silks includes work which incorporates lace making in an innovative and contemporary way.
Learn basic lace-making techniques to begin to create your own sculptural piece inspired by Hannah Robson’s designs. You will have the opportunity to use metal threads as well as other materials. Hannah will provide basic and more complicated options to help you progress.
All materials provided, no previous experience necessary.

Hannah Robson Robson trained at the Royal College of Art and is a rising star of the weaving world and is known for her use of lace-making techniques to create ambitious surfaces. She currently works from her studio in Leeds and is a technician in the 3D Weaving Innovation Centre, developing new weaving technologies for a wide range of textile industries. Her installation Ersilia (on display in Rochester Art Gallery) was commissioned by the Crafts Council for Collect Open 2018, and is included in this exhibition. She also created new work for Opening Narratives, the inaugural show at Make Hauser & Wirth, Somerset.
This workshop is part of a programme of events for our exhibition ‘Bizarre and Curious Silks’ in partnership with Rochester Art Gallery.

Workshop is suitable for children 11 + Children under 16 must be accompanied.
