Come and learn the age-old thrift craft of rag rug making and make some textile art with fabric that has a memory for you – just as the Huguenots might have done in the 1600’s. You will use simple hand tools and recycled textiles with Debbie Siniska, who is a textile artist that specialises in working with recycled, reclaimed and vintage textiles to make rag rugs among other things.
Debbie has exhibited work at the V&A museum in London and has had rugs commissioned for Charleston Farmhouse in Lewes, East Sussex as well as sold at the Tate Gallery Shop in London. She has been featured in the Sunday Times and Sunday Telegraph newspapers, and on BBC and Channel 4 television, with Kirstie Allsopp on her Homemade Home series 2. Find out more about Debbie here.
Museum admission, refreshments and lunch included with ticket.
Participants will need to bring along their own recycled materials to make their mat.
