Two-Day Weaving Workshop

Learn an ancient weaving technique favoured by Huguenot weavers with our exhibiting artist Hannah Robson. Hannah will guide you through this two-day workshop to create a sample piece of weaving. The Lampas method is ideal for creating more complex figuring and pattern in weaving. This workshop is suitable for those with some weaving experience wishing to extend their knowledge and skills.

Hannah Robson Robson trained at the Royal College of Art and is a rising star of the weaving world. She currently works from her studio in Leeds and is a technician in the 3D Weaving Innovation Centre, developing new weaving technologies for a wide range of textile industries. Her installation Ersilia (on display in Rochester Art Gallery) was commissioned by the Crafts Council for Collect Open 2018, and is included in this exhibition. She also created new work for Opening Narratives, the inaugural show at Make Hauser & Wirth, Somerset.
This workshop is part of a programme of events for our exhibition ‘Bizarre and Curious Silks’ in partnership with Rochester Art Gallery.
