Our next Book Club choice is Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost. The Bard sets the play in Huguenot King Henry of Navarre's court, bringing to life themes of intrigue, adultery, and loyalty in the Sixteenth Century French Court. No special knowledge of the Huguenots is necessary – just a love of history and a good story! Visit the Museum and take a behind the scenes tour of the French Hospital, the Huguenot almshouses on Rochester High Street, which are not usually open to the public. The French Hospital was founded in 1718 in London to support the large numbers of Protestants escaping persecution in France, and celebrates its 300th anniversary this year.
