Visitor Services Assistant

• Part time(20 hours per week)
• Thursday and Friday, plus alternate Saturdays 9.00am to 5.00pm
• Some bank holidays and occasional evenings

• £22,000 per year pro rata

• One year contract with possibility of extension

The Huguenot Museum is seeking a part-time Visitor Services Assistant to manage our Front of House operations and ensure a warm and engaging welcome to our visitors.

The post holder should have a commitment to providing great customer service.

You will oversee the Front of House rota and day to day management of our volunteer team, ensuring we have cover for all museum shifts and for special events.

You will manage the running of our small gift shop, making sure we have a good range of beautiful craft items and gifts attractively displayed for visitors. Your role will include cash handling as you will oversee sales of gifts and tickets and be responsible for processing payments using the till and cardnet machine; and for producing our monthly income report. You will work strategically with the Director and other staff to increase spend per head and develop income streams such as tours and venue hires.

The Visitor Services Assistant should be comfortable working with school age children and families. Many of our visitors will be school groups and children attending weekend and holiday workshops. You will assist with the marketing and organisation of these visits and support the museum’s Learning Officer with the logistics of managing learning groups.

The post holder will need experience of working in a customer service environment. You should be prepared to work hard as part of a small team to make our new museum a success.
